You heard your cousin's mother's aunt is taking CBD oil and you know that there are benefits to CBD Oil, but what is CBD Oil?
It may seem daunting but the basics and uses of CBD oil are very simple, and we have outlined them in this article.
CBD oil is becoming very popular across the world as people and researchers report on the benefits it has on anxiety, sleep or pain issues and many chronic health conditions. To put it really briefly, CBD or Cannabidiol resembles a property that we make naturally in our body which can help many of the issues mentioned above.
We’ve broken down the questions we get asked the most to help you decide.
What is CBD Oil?
What is CBD?
It’s proven that CBD oil is safe, non addictive and non intoxicating. CBD or Cannabidiol is a compound that’s found in the Cannabis plant. The Cannabis plant is most famous for “getting you high”, but this is caused by THC, not CBD. CBD will not get you high or show up in a drug test.
CBD looks like a molecule that we naturally produce in our bodies called Endocannabidoids. The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) manages pain, inflammation and other things in our bodies. Because CBD resembles this, the body doesn’t fight it and instead welcomes it as part of the ECS and encourages it to work harder.
This is why researchers believe CBD oil benefits include; anti-inflammatory, anti anxiety, muscle relaxant, antipsychotic, neuroprotective & antioxidant properties.
What does THC free mean?
A THC free CBD oil means that it does not contain any property that is illegal or will get you high. You should always confirm that there is no THC in any CBD brand that you are buying and only buy brands that provide lab results.
Trustworthy brands like Cibdol CBD oil provide independent lab reports, where you can type in the number on your bottle and view the levels of CBD oil, and more importantly what is NOT in the oil. i.e. THC & heavy metals.
Is CBD Safe?
Most of the studies conducted on CBD are showing that even at high doses, CBD doesn’t cause undue harm or side effects. CBD oil or Cannabidiol is a completely safe and therapeutic ingredient. The upper recommended dose of CBD oil is 160mg per day. Most CBD oils that are sold come well under that limit (we explain this in more detail below).
Over 600 legitimate research papers have been published on it’s effects and research is increasing to fully understand it’s anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties.

Start low and go slow is the advice. This is so you can start to see the effects on the body.
The dose is 3-4 drops, three times per day.
Your dose depends on the strength of the CBD oil.
- 2.5% = 230mg
- 5% = 460mg
- 10% = 920mg
- 20% = 1840mg
For example, If you start taking 5% CBD Oil
- Each 10ml bottle contains 460mg (5%) concentration of CBD oil
- Each drop contains 2.3mg of CBD oil.
- Take 3-4 drops, three times a day (2.3mg x 4 x 3).
- This means you are taking 27.6mg of CBD per day.
- The recommended upper limit of CBD is 160mg per day so this is a low dose but good for anyone who wants to try CBD oil.
How do I take CBD oil?
Using the dropper, CBD oil should be taken under the tongue and held for 60 seconds.
Here it is absorbed straight into the bloodstream where it does not have to go through your digestive system and liver, where there is a risk of it being removed.
Alternatively, it can be taken in capsule form or even rub in as a balm. The balm will get absorbed straight to the area so this is a great option.

Can I give my pet CBD oil?
